LODGING
Individual cabins and duplexes with various sleeping arrangements are very comfortable and clean. All cabins have king or queen sized beds, private bath, fireplace, telephone, covered porch with rocking chairs and daily housekeeping service. The 110 year old ranch house has an extensive deck overlooking the main orchard and welcomes guests for cocktails and family style meals. The living room is centered around a fireplace and includes an open bar and a card table.

RECREATION
Activities listed are included in daily rate: Horseback riding on 100 miles of trails through the towering redwoods, open meadows, along the ridges overlooking Anderson Valley, and along the Navarro River - rides are tailored to experience levels; swimming in pool or lake, tennis (two courts), fishing, mountain biking, hiking or just relaxing in a hammock outside the ranch house. Clay pigeon shooting, massage and yoga classes are available for an additional cost. A variety of indoor games and musical instruments including a piano, a broad music collection, wireless internet access and satellite television are also available.

FOR CHILDREN
Children are welcome with their families. At Highland Ranch, kids thrive on the freedom to roam and the chance to try new things. Children and teenagers come here and go on trail rides or pony rides, swim in the pool, paddle the canoe in the lake, fish for catfish at night and generally wear themselves out coming up with new adventures for the next day. Freedom, fresh air and lots of fun! (Childcare is available and we have satellite TV and a collection of media if desired.)

FOOD/LIQUOR
Fresh fruit, vegetables, meat and seafood from Mendocino County prepared in best European and American style. Meals are served in our charming Old World dining room. Sumptuous made to order country breakfasts and refreshing lunches. Full bar offerings and fine local and international wines are included in daily rate. Special menus including vegetarian upon request.

BUSINESS/MEETINGS
Excellent for corporate/business groups. Our state of the art heated and fully equipped yurt pavillion will hold up to forty-five people. For a less formal set up, the Main House has ample meeting space for up to twenty-five people with wireless and Ethernet connections. Audio-visual equipment is available.

REGION/CUSTOMS
Well-behaved dogs are welcome at Highland Ranch and you are also welcome to bring your own horse at no additonal charge. Please call for details. The less-crowded Anderson Valley is home to some of Northern California's undiscovered winery gems and some better known producers also. Just 40 minutes from the coastal artist community town of Mendocino, local activities, sightseeing and exquisite scenery abound. Deep sea fishing and sea kayaking are available on the coast. The Boonville County Fair and Rodeo in September is very popular as is the Pinot Noir Festival in May and the Mendocino Music Festival in July.

HISTORY/HOSTS
Highland Ranch is over 125 years old and has been welcoming guests for almost 50 years. The present owners, George and Mary Moore Gaines, have restored the land, planted acres of orchards, updated the cabins, added to the list of activities and been warm and gracious hosts since 1987. French, German, Spanish, Italian and even English are all spoken at the Ranch which attracts guests from all over Europe and the United States. George's son, Jim, and Jim's wife, Susie, joined the team in 2004 significantly updating and improving available amenities and services.
