Surrounded by more wilderness than anywhere in the lower 48, set in one of the most majestic regions of the country, -- the Sawtooth National Recreation Area -- our guests are free to choose from the limitless outdoor adventures available, both on the Ranch and in this spectacular area -- without the crowds! Our open schedules and relaxed atmosphere, combined with our gracious, knowledgeable staff's assistance, allow guests a truly custom experience. Children at the Ranch

Great for children aged 5 and over

Children of all ages are welcome at the ranch, and our staff assists each family in arranging on-ranch and area activities that are fun, as well as age- and ability-appropriate.

We offer a children's dinner three nights per week. Children 5 years and older may participate in a children's play hour from 6:00-8:00pm. On these evenings, staff organizes games, activities, and stories for children to enjoy. We request that the parents sign their children up ahead of time, so we can plan accordingly.

Activities

Baby Sitting Provided By

Crew members who have indicated a willingness to babysit are introduced to the family where the parents make the babysitting arrangements and it is not included as a part of the ranch reservation.

Environmental & Social Practices

Environment

The goal of the Kapp-Singer families, who purchased the Ranch in 2005, is to be 'authentic' in all areas, -- architecture, activities, food, entertainment, and an option to 'unplug'. Exemplary of this is the artful renovation of the Lodge and Cabins, on the National Register of Historic Places, which honors this designation, with architectural details preserved and improvements made that speak to the Ranch's history and connect guests to a unique western experience.

The Ranch guest season is mid-June to mid-September. White water rafting is best early in June, July and early August, hiking, fishing, mountain biking, and horseback riding are available all season, with spring's onset influencing availability of the higher elevation destinations.

Ranch History

We're extremely proud of Idaho Rocky Mountain Ranch's rich history since its inception in 1930. Constructed of native lodgepole pine by a crew of 60 men including stonemasons and ironworkers, the Ranch is listed on The National Register of Historic Places.

In February 2005, the Idaho Rocky Mountain Ranch was acquired by the Kapp-Singer families. Owners Steve and Courtney Kapp, and David Singer and Diana Kapp, all hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing and fly-fishing enthusiasts, fell in love with the Sawtooth Mountains and their endless recreation possibilities. Their passion to restore authentic details shows in the artfully renovated Lodge and cabins, which honor the Ranch’s historic integrity, while enhancing the guest experience.

We offer a unique dining experience where people can enjoy the delicious union of food, ambiance, and atmosphere, through a deep and abiding love for all three components, and meticulous attention to detail.

Whether in the magnificent lodge dining room or enjoying your meal outside on the porch and picnic area, our passion for great food enhances your experience. We strive to make all items on our menu in-house, using local, organic, sustainable products whenever possible, showcasing them in our creative dishes. High quality and fresh ingredients are of the utmost importance to the owners and Chef.

Four nights a week guests savor our evening meals in an a la carte style, from 6:30-8:30pm, at intimate tables for two or larger tables enjoying the camaraderie of other guests. The remaining nights are served in a "family style" atmosphere, where we bring guests shareable meals among their group without the need to decide which sounds best - we'll bring it all!

The Setting

The Ranch itself is 878 acres. There are a number of trails that leave from the Ranch into surrounding public lands.

We ride on everything from flat lands at 6400 feet in elevation to advanced mountain trails.

We offer 1 and 3 hour rides for our guests, in the morning and afternoon. Private rides can also be arranged. It is the guest's choice which ride, and how often they ride during their stay. Rides for guests are a la carte.

While the Forest Service limits riding groups to 17, we limit our groups to 6 riders per wrangler. Children must be 6 years or older for trail rides.

Booking Policy

Adult rate listed is per adult. Rates on our website are based on double occupancy for each accommodation. A 50% deposit confirms your reservation. Cancellation Policy: your deposit, less a fee of 10% of the total reservation cost, will be refunded if cancellation is made at least 30 days prior to scheduled arrival. If cancellation or early departure notice is given within 30 days of scheduled arrival, you are responsible for the total reservation cost unless we are able to rebook the accommodations. A refund will be given for rebooked accommodations, less a fee of 10% of the total reservation cost.

Gratuity

Gratuity is not included in the per-night room cost, and is greatly appreciated. Our entire seasonal staff, housekeepers, wait staff, front office, and kitchen staff, shares any gratuity equally based on the hours they worked while a guest was at the ranch.

Fishing & Wildlife

We have fly rods for on-ranch use at our fully stocked fishing pond, or at the Salmon river, at our lower ranch. Fly fishing rods are provided for our guests throughout their stay, including our Sunday casting clinics. We have an on-ranch fishing guide who is able to take guests out for drift boat fishing on the Salmon river, which can be coordinated by calling our front office.

Corporations may arrange to use our recreational facility (The Shed), or for exclusive occupancy of the Ranch, depending on their needs and size of the group. Smaller groups may also be accommodated.

Amazing

This is a stunning location. The views from the front porch is worth every penny. The staff, food, location, and peace are outstanding. We came for two nights, and enjoyed the rest, hikes, bikes, dining, and quiet. We stayed in a lodge room facing the Sawtooth Range, it was breathtaking.
