Ranch History

Happiness can be found with ease at this family Guest Ranch, whether riding across the grassy meadows on a beautiful summer morning or relaxing to the sound of the Little Laramie River flowing just outside your cabin.

The Cole Family own and operate the Dude Ranch, as well as the Deerwood cattle ranch, located approximately ten miles south of the Vee Bar, nestled in the Centennial Valley below the Medicine Bow National Forest.

The Deerwood is home to three generations of Cole’s including son Kelly and his family, daughter Jana and her family and son Curt. The Coles’ seven grandchildren play an active part in the operation of the Vee Bar Guest Ranch, particularly during dude ranch season working as wranglers, assisting in the dining room, helping with housekeeping and maintenance chores and wherever else a hand is needed.

Fishing & Wildlife

Wyoming fishing on the Little Laramie River is sure to keep the fishing enthusiasts coming back for more!  One mile of the Little Laramie River flows through the Vee Bar, and fishing on the Vee Bar’s private property is saved exclusively for Vee Bar dude ranch guests.  The river is swarming with Brown and Brook Trout.  Areas of the river are without overhanging trees, perfect for fly-fishing.  Some equipment is provided including fly fishing rods, spinner rods and reels, flies, limited pairs of waders, and a small kit with a few more necessities.

High water (from spring snow-melt) is usually at its peak between mid-May and mid-June.  During this time, the river is very hard to fish so you may want to plan accordingly.  During the winter, the river is frozen over in places, but still flows underneath.  By mid-March the river is thawed and the fish are hungry!  In the fall, the fishing is usually quite good through the end of October.

Visitor Reviews

Dont just take our word for it, see what visitors like you say...

Wonderful authentic Western vacation experience

This is my 3rd time back to the Vee Bar and it is the best vacation ever. This year there were 5 women in our group who made the trip. Three of us were return guests. The cattle round up was so much fun and a authentic western experience. One week a year I get to fulfill my Cowgirl dreams. Brent and Cari and their help provide the best service possible and do their best to honor guests requests. It's a wonderful ranch with great food, horses, experiences, hiking and adventures.
