Lodging

Crossed Sabres Ranch offers western ranch living with modern amenities in the beautiful Shoshone National Forest. Our one and two bedroom cabins have carpet, electric heat, private bathrooms, and front porches with log furniture for relaxing. Cabins are strategically placed around Libby Creek, which meanders through the ranch. Our 6000 square foot lodge is centrally located within the ranch. The lodge consists of our large dinning hall, western saloon and game room, as well as a comfy great room with fireplace and library. The Saloon is a great place to kick back, relax, and share your stories from the day.

Food & Dining

While at the ranch, you certainly won’t be going hungry. Our hearty western ranch cuisine is sure to keep you going as you experience everything the ranch has to offer. Wake up to a ranch breakfast of eggs benedict or take in the views from our breakfast ride as you enjoy a plate of homemade biscuits and gravy. For those wishing for something on the lighter side: cereal, fresh fruit, and pastries are always available. For lunch, try a monster buffalo burger or make a sandwich with our fresh cut deli meats and all the fixings.

Dinner is the social meal. Recap the days’ events in a casual environment as you enjoy meals such as local beef steak or fresh caught trout. When you’re not enjoying meals in the lodge, you’ll be enjoying our BBQ outside around the camp fire, taking in the beautiful weather and huge mountain views. Find yourself hungry in-between meals? Dig into our bottomless cookie jar filled with an assortment of cookies made fresh daily.

Activities

Horse Back Riding:

Here at Crossed Sabres Ranch, horses are our specialty. Our herd of horses are well trained and trustworthy animals. We can accommodate guests ranging from no experience to the seasoned veteran. Our riding is catered to your desires: be it a lesson in our arena, a short morning or afternoon ride, or an all-day ride with a packed lunch to explore beautiful meadows and high mountain views. Head out from our corral on a horse which was specifically chosen for you and your ability level. Our experienced wranglers can teach you all about riding as well as the areas you’ll be riding in. We have rides for all skill levels, varying from a mellow walking ride through forest and along the Shoshone river, to fast paced technical trails with river and stream crossings. Wildlife is abundant around the ranch. While out on the trail it is common to see a variety of wildlife such as buffalo, deer, and elk. You might get lucky and come across a bear or moose. Crossed Sabres Ranch is the perfect destination for those looking to ride and get out and explore. Located in the the Shoshone National Forest, which consists of more then two million acres, the possibilities are endless.

Fishing:

Crossed Sabres Ranch conveniently sits along the North Fork of the Shoshone river. This gives our guests direct access to nearly 40 miles of world class fishing. You can expect to catch trout species such as rainbows, browns, brooks and Yellowstone cutthroats. For the avid angler, feel free to bring your gear to embark on the river. For those just starting out or those not wanting to travel with gear, The Ranch provides nearly everything one would need for a day on the river. If its your first time casting a fly, take advantage of our fly fishing lessons available at your desire. For those looking for a truly unique experience, try a guided horseback fishing trip.

Yellowstone National Park:

With the ranch located a short 8 miles from the East Entrance to Yellowstone, the ability to experience one of the the worlds’ most dramatic national parks lies at your finger tips. We recommend taking a whole day to see the park due to all it has to offer. You will experience the famous Old Faithful geyser which spews water over a hundred feet in the air for several minutes. Along with geysers, you will see colorful hot springs, mud pots and stand in awe at the grandeur of the Yellowstone Grand Canyon. Like the ranch, wildlife is abundant, so the chance of seeing animals is always common.

Cody and The Rodeo:

Once a week we head into historic Cody, Wyoming, home to the famous “Buffalo Bill” Cody. You can also catch the Cody gun fight which takes place in the streets of Cody. Afterwards, you’ll head over to the Cody Night Rodeo to get your fix of true cowboy entertainment. Watch as cowboys and cowgirls compete in events such as team roping, barrel racing, and bull riding. There are also events during the rodeo that the kids can participate in. You even have the chance to sit on a live bull.

Rafting:

Rafting the North Fork of the Shoshone is an exhilarating and rewarding experience. You will head out with a knowledgeable guide to see the area from a completely different perspective. During the earlier months of summer, you will test your rafting skills with white water. Later in the summer, when the river calms, kick back and enjoy a peaceful float trip. While on the the river, you will take in breath taking views and have the chance to see a variety of wildlife. Bald eagles, elk, and moose are common along the river.

Hiking:

Since The Ranch sits within the Shoshone National Forest outside of Yellowstone, saying there are a few hiking trails is quite an understatement. The area consists of a lifetimes’ worth of trails to explore. Trails range from a short hour hike to an all day adventure. If your body needs a rest from all the riding you’ve been doing, but you still want to get out and see more of this beautiful country, a hike is the perfect option.

Kid's Programs

Crossed Sabres Ranch is the perfect destination for a family vacation. However, if you’re ready for a break, parents can rest at ease and fully enjoy their time away knowing their kid’s are in great hands. Our kids program is designed to ensure your children have as enjoyable a vacation as you do. Parents won’t be the only ones riding horses. Kids get out on the trail as well. For older kids, our arena is the perfect place to hone skills before heading out on the trail. For the real youngsters, pony rides are available in our safe arena. Fun can also be educational. While your kids are having the times of their lives, they’ll be learning about local history, plants and animals. Other activities such as scavenger hunts, ranch games, archery, a BB gun range, and even a little swimming will keep your children entertained all week long. Each week, our program is planned around the needs and wants of the kids staying on The Ranch.
