The Red Rock Ranch is a remote ranch in the pristine Gros Ventre valley. Being here brings you closer to nature than you may have ever been.

There are so many things to see and do! Riding, fishing, sky and wildlife viewing are just a few of the natural activities available. Witness the wildness, openness, freedom and peace that only can be experienced on a ranch and from the back of a horse.

Red Rock Ranch’s unique geographic location offers our guests experiences in the mountains with unbelievably stunning views and vistas of the magnificent Grand Teton, Wind River, and Absaroka mountain ranges.

You are likely to see antelope, coyote, elk, deer, bald eagles, falcons and a variety of hawks. You might even catch a glimpse of moose, bear or Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep!

Good time to go

The best time to stay at our ranch is May to mid-September. We also have remote cabins for pack-in winter accommodations.

Children at the Ranch

Great for children aged 0 and over

We love kids, bring them on!

At the ranch, kids love the freedom of just being a kid in the wide open spaces of Wyoming. There is no TV, or video games, but they will be busy with horseback riding, volleyball, pickle-ball, horseshoes – and ranch bikes are available for all kids. You may find your child in their very own recreation room!

There is something special about swimming in our heated pool surrounded by the beautiful red cliffs, playing tag with new friends or simply enjoying a game of foosball or ping pong.

Our Kid’s Riding Program includes supervised trail rides for children six years and older. All children ride at the discretion of our Head Wrangler whose first priority is their safety.

Competent kids Wranglers lead the young dudes up various trails through mountain meadows and stream crossings, to look for wildlife and search for fossils.

Ranch History

The Red Rock Ranch and memorable vacations have gone hand in hand for over 100 years. From humble beginnings during the late 1800s to setting the pace for ranching in the 1900s, our love for the land has guided many decisions. The legend goes something like this…

The Red Rock Ranch has been in the MacKenzie family for over 45 years now. David and Deborah handed the reins over to their daughter Carolyn and her husband, Harley Stimmel. With a true sense of belonging to this land, they proudly accepted the challenge so that future MacKenzie generations can call Red Rock Ranch home.

Deposits are non-refundable. Deposits may be transferred to the following year if RRR is notified in writing sixty (60) days prior to your confirmed stay that you wish to make such a change in your reservation.

Transfer of deposit is subject to availability and at the reasonable discretion of RRR.

Deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable for any cancellation made less than sixty (60) days prior to date of your scheduled arrival.

Credits will not be allowed for shortened stays, deleted rooms, or absences during your stay.

Due to the limited number of accommodations available and the distance of the ranch from population centers, it is impossible to fill vacancies on short notice.

If you cancel less than 60 days from your arrival date and we are unable to fill your cabin(s), you will be responsible for 100% of the base reservation cost as well as the deposit. This is our policy, irrespective of the reason a guest needs to cancel, whether it is illness, travel difficulties, family emergency, or any other cause.

For that reason and others identified below, we strongly encourage the purchase of 'cancel for any reason' travel insurance (including medical and evacuation insurance).

This insurance typically covers any costs incurred by you as a result of cancellation of your trip, whether due to your circumstances, or RRRs. If interested, please contact Dude Ranchers Association website (https://duderanch.org/triptravel-insurance) for further information.

If RRR cancels a reservation for any reason reasonably within its control, a full refund of the deposit will be given. However, in such cases RRR will not be responsible for any additional costs incurred, such as airline tickets, hotel rooms, equipment, medical expenses, etc.

In the event that RRR must cancel a reservation as a result of an occurrence of force majeure, including Acts of God; fire; flood; explosion; extraordinary and destructive weather conditions directly affecting RRR’s ability to safely provide lodging or activities; acts, laws, orders or restraint of government; pandemic or outbreaks of sickness or disease; terrorism, war, sabotage or vandalism; accident, civil disorder or riots within the RRR’s operating areas or directly affecting RRR’s performance; or any other circumstances beyond RRR’s control, no refunds will be provided.

Visitor Reviews

Dont just take our word for it, see what visitors like you say...

A great ranch experience

Our stay at the RRR was great. The ranch had everything that we were looking for: hiking, riding, fishing and great food. The cabins were comfortable, well appointed and very clean and the views from the windows were picturesque. I visited the ranch with my college aged kids and they enjoyed it as much as I did. We were very active each day of our 6 night stay. With all the amenities and activities offered, guests could choose their desired level of activity and relaxation. The family owners and staff at the ranch were the best part of the experience. We enjoyed getting to know each one of them and will miss them all. It's difficult for us when our vacations come to an end, but leaving the RRR was especially hard.
