Tucked away up the Elk River Valley, just north of Steamboat Springs, Colorado, Vista Verde offers a diverse selection of activities making it more than just a riding ranch. In the summer hiking, rock climbing, mountain biking, fly-fishing, and paddle boarding accompany trail riding and helpful clinics. In the winter skiing, snowshoeing and sleigh rides complement snowy horseback rides. In both seasons, secluded AAA Four Diamond accommodations feature private hot tubs, wood stoves and fabulous views, with gourmet dining, wine tasting and cooking classes adding to the experience. Creative children’s, tween’s and teen’s programs make it enjoyable for the whole family, with special times set aside for adult only escapes.

Our Culinary Institute-trained Chefs wil tantalize your taste buds with cuisine that walks the line between ranchy and fancy. Most meals are served family style but there are some wonderful nights when the adults can enjoy a gourmet, candlelit dinner with a nice glass of wine while the children have their own “kid friendly” dinner elsewhere.
In addition to the wonderful horse program offering scenic trail riding and innovative clinics, Vista Verde guests have a wide variety of guided activities to choose from. Some never get on a horse all week! Activities include Hiking, Mountain Biking, Fly Fishing, Rock Climbing, Rafting, Kayaking, Hot Air Ballooning, Cooking Class, Wine Tasting, Photography Walk and of course, Nightly Entertainment. Winters at Vista Verde are a true winter wonderland. You can be as active as you’d like with snowshoeing, cross country and back country skiing, snowmobiling, sledding and horseback riding (indoor arena or in the snow!). Or, you can just enjoy some solitude in your spacious cabin or by the roaring fire in our Great Room. It’s a wonderful way to introduce kids to the snow, or a great way for a couple to treat themselves to a romantic winter vacation.
Kid’s (6-10), Tween’s (11-13) and Teen’s (14-17) programs are offered with different activities for the different age groups. The kids ride the haywagon, make wooden boats to race, ride to a river for gold panning, and more. The tweens try out archery, paddleboarding, chasing cows on horseback, and enjoy a late-evening cookout. The teens head out for an all-day ride, go on an overnight campout, and spend an afternoon at a nearby lake. These programs are offered June through August in the summer and December, President’s Week and Spring Break in the winter.
